1825 LIVERPOOL ~ Streets No:34

Well here we are ~ back at last. What a time we have had! After the episode with the beer dray and the recurring problems with the privy roof, we finally decided to 'up sticks' and move to another part of town. At long last we can see trees and greenery from our windows, and an added bonus from the upstairs rooms, is the view of the river over the roof tops. I spend many hours viewing the sailing ships passing up and down the Mersey, only interrupted by occasional passage of those dreaded steam packets ~ I wonder if they will ever take on.

I will not bore you with the full reason for my long absence, but suffice to say, it has not been an easy time. Anyway, I now have bought some new soft leather boots from a cordwainer in the upper part of town and I am looking forward to running them in.

You will remember many months ago that I finished my last walk at No. 61 High Street, Paddington ~ the home of Mr. Samuel Barrow.....................Now to the matter in hand ~ today after a good repast, I will be starting off down High Park Avenue, and the weather being fair, this should prove to be an excellent return to my rambles...................................

After a most exhilarating day, I am returning (via my local hostelry) to our new home, where I know a hearty Lancashire Hotpot will be awaiting me. When I return in a few days time I will be seeing who lives in Ironmonger Lane.
